The International Information Technology Conference was launched in 1998
as an event connected with the declaration of 1998 as the Year of IT by the Government of Sri Lanka. It has been successfully held every year since then, except in 2007 as a mark of respect to the Late Prof. V. K. Samaranayake who passed away that year. In 2008, IITC is back and will be held in conjunction with the Infotel exhibition during ICT Week declared by the government from 27th October to 2nd Novermber 2008. This year, in addition to universities and research institutes, IITC also solicits research papers from the IT industry. In addition, some of the best research projects are expected to be highlighted at the Infotel exhibition at special stalls made to showcase Sri Lanka's research potential. It is expected that some of these projects whould be commercialized by the industry. IITC is supported by the Infotel Society and managed by the University of Colombo School of Computing(UCSC). |
