WS1: Security Products:Should I buy a black box or get an open one for free? |
| Abstract: |
Many organizations are evaluating and deploying security products to protect themselves from computer crimes. However, comparing features of security product and their strength is a difficult and time-intensive task. This workshop describes and demonstrates various free open source security products and tools that can be used in the enterprise as well as day to day life. This workshop also covers important topics in the area of information system security including computer forensics.

WS-2: Computer Networks: - Planning, Design, Implementation, Testing, Management and Maintenance in real world! |
| Abstract: |
This workshop will give a sound understanding of the relevant areas required to complete a Computer Networking Project. While assuming a reasonable knowledge of Data Communications and networking hardware, the discussion will focus more on how the existing knowledge and experience could be effectively used to implement various ‘networking projects’ from small scale ‘home office’ implementations to ‘campus wide’ large installations. Demonstrations of significant practical applications mentioned within the workshop would be carried out at various points in the proceedings |

| WS-4: Sensor Network and Its Applications to National Security |
Abstract: |
In recent years, ah-hoc and sensor network research has been undergoing a quiet revolution, promising to have significant impact on a broad range of applications relating to national security, health care, the environment, energy, food safety, and manufacturing. This workshop describes sensor network technology and its applications relating to national security. In this workshop participants will get hands-on experience on various sensor motes and few sensor applications developed in wireless ad-hoc and sensor network laboratory (WASN Lab), University of Colombo School of Computing.

WS-3: e-Learning Experience: Value Added Learning through Instructional and Interactive Design |
| Abstract: |
This workshop would be an excellent opportunity for those who are willing to use e-learning based service to their customers. Designing and developing e-learning content is challenging as well as creative. The process of developing e-learning material is some what similar to software development but its quality decides the effectiveness. Instructional design guides the designers of e-learning material to produce high quality material which can be used to provide an effective and efficient e-learning based service. In a learner-centric environment, developers have to decide interactivity that matches the designers guidelines. At the same time, e-learning development should not be done in an adhoc manner but should be done in accordance with accepted international standard such as SCORM. In this workshop, four international e-learning experts from USA, Japan, Sweden and Sri Lanka will share their experience in this process of designing and developing e-learning material.
